Town Rab – Island of Rab

The town of Rab is located on a small peninsula on the southwestern side of the island of Rab. It has a long and rich history that dates back to 360BC and it used to be a part of the Roman Empire. The town is full of churches and is recognizable from afar by the four church towers: bell tower of the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, bell tower of St John the Evangelist, the belfry of the church of St Andrew the Apostle and the bell tower of the church St Justine.
The plague that reached the town in 1456 killed many people and it remained in common memory as one of the worst disasters in the town’s history.
